PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a treatment method for an oil contaminated with an organic halogen compound whereby a hydrogen sulfide gas is scarcely generated.;SOLUTION: This treatment method is characterized in that an oil contaminated with an organic halogen compound containing sulfur is mixed with an alkali or alkaline earth metal to dehalogenate the halogen compound and then is mixed with water to cause inorganic components in the oil to be dissolved into water; then, an oxidizing agent is added to the water containing the inorganic components dissolved therein to oxidize sulfur dissolved in the water; and after this oxidation treatment, an acidic neutralizing agent is added to the water to neutralize it.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
