PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for reducing heavy metal sludge generated when an alkali is added to heavy metal-containing water to remove heavy metals as their hydroxides.;SOLUTION: The alkali is added to the water containing dissolved metals to precipitate the heavy metals as heavy metal hydroxides, and the sediment is recovered as the heavy metal sludge.
