PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of recovering valuable substance from an Ni-MH secondary battery and an Ni-MH secondary battery waste electrode plate at high efficiency. ;SOLUTION: In processes of crushing and processing waste of an Ni-MH secondary battery in which powder type hydrogen storage alloy is disposed in a negative electrode in water to form slurry of a powder part, separating the slurry from the other part without becoming slurry, and recovering valuable substance by gravity separation and/or floating separation, dispersant is included in the process of processing crushed matter in water, or recovering valuable substance from the slurry. As the dispersant, anion dispersant such as low polymerization sodium acrylate and sodium oleate, or nonion dispersant such as polyoxyethylene sorbitanoleate or polyoxyethylemene sorbitanstearate is used.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
