PURPOSE:To obtain a nasal composition having excellent absorption of a medicine from nasal mucosa, extremely low irritation and toxicity to tissue, high safety, capable of sufficiently maintaining pharmacodynamic effect and concentration of medicine in blood. CONSTITUTION:This nasal composition contains a pharmacodynamically active substance, water and an alcohol and the content of the alcohol is 10-70vol.%, especially 15-30vol.% based on the total of the composition. A 1-4C alcohol, a 2-5C alkanediol or a 3-6C alkanetriol is preferable as the alcohol and propylene glycol having its actual results of use as an additive of medicine is especially suitable. The amount of propylene glycol to be added is 15-30vol.%. A medicine having high initial passage effect especially in the liver, a medicine which has high water solubility and is not sufficiently absorbed by oral administration and a medicine extremely decomposing in digestive tract are preferable as the pharmacodynamically active peptide or a physiologically active protein may be cited as the pharmacodynamically active substance to be used.
