PURPOSE: To lessen the corrosion of the inner surface of a feedwater pipe for a boiler. ;CONSTITUTION: Concentrated oxygen gas is supplied to the boiler water which flows through a feedwater pipe 16 provided between a boiler 3 and a condenser 13. The oxygen gas dissolves in the boiler water, which then becomes oxygenated water. By contact of the oxygenated water with the inner surface of the feedwater pipe 16 a protective coat of iron oxide for preventing corrosion is formed on the inner surface. The oxygen gas contains corrosive gases, such as carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide, as components, but since their concentrations are extremely low, the inner surface of the feedwater pipe 16 becomes difficult of corrosion before formation of the protective coat.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
