PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform photoelectric conversion with the simplest circuit constitution, without requiring an intermediate circuit or intermediate substance which converts information. SOLUTION: This is a light-input/current output element formed of a substance (2), capable of imposing light-induced phase modulation on a charge- density wave and has a couple of electrodes (3, 4) formed on its top surface and a light irradiating part (12) which is formed between the couple of electrodes; and the substance can be selected from among a group of K0.30MoO3, Rb0.30MoO3, (K1-XRbX)0.30MoO3, NbSe3, TaSe3, and laminar transition metal chalcogenide.
