PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the trouble that an optical cable winding machine becomes in capable of moving during winding work, when a starting position of a balance weight is set erroneously. ;SOLUTION: When an optical cable winding machine 21 runs, a turning frame 24 and a bobbin 25 turn around an overhead earth-wire 4 in accordance with the rotation of a running pulley 26. The bobbin 25 rotates and draws out an optical cable 9 while turning, and winds the cable around the earth-wire 4. A weight moving screw 82 rotates interlockingly with the rotation of the bobbin 25. A balance weight 87 unified in a body with an internal thread member 88 for moving a weight which is screwed to the screw 82 moves to the inside, thereby obtaining weight balance corresponding to the residue of optical cable in the bobbin 25. When the starting position of the balance weight 87 is set erroneously inside a proper position, the bobbin 25 collides against a fixing plate 84 before the bobbin 25 becomes empty and does not move farther inside. At a position just before the collision, the internal thread member 88 comes off from a screw part of the screw 82, so that the turning of the bobbin 25 and the rotation of the running pulley 26 will not be restricted.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
