The invention relates to a method for increasing the concentration of the cis-9, trans-11 isomer of octadecadienoic in the milk fat and/or the tissue fat of a ruminant. The invention also relates to the use of trans-11-isomer of the octadecenoic acid for increasing the concentration of cis-9, trans-11-isomer of the octadecadienoic acid in lactic and/or tissue fat of ruminants. By the method, according to the invention, and its use, the animals are fed with trans 9-11 isomer of the octadecenoic acid independently or mixed with other feeds, separately or together with other fatty acids. The invention also relates to a composition of animal feeds containing at least trans-11-isomer of the octadecenoic acid.
