This Invention relates to a method for removing mercury from dilute sulfuric acid.According to the method the sulfuric acid solution is separated with an aqueous solution containing thiosulfate,Precipitating Mercury in the sulfuric acid Solution as Mercury sulfide, or in an environment containing ChlorineAs a double Salt of Mercury sulfide chloride of Mercury.The amount of thiosulfate to be fed is adjusted so that the Mercury precipitate in the sulfuric acid Solution, but still not form elemental Sulfur.
