Compsn. for delivering an active agent (I) to mucosal lymphoreticular tissue (MLT) comprises (I) encapsulated in a compatible excipient (II) to form microcapsules smaller than about 10 microns. Specifically the microcapsules are of size 1-10 microns; if above 5 microns they are retained in MLT but if smaller they pass through it. (I) is a drug, nutrient, immunomodulator, lymphokine, monokins, cytokine, antigen or allergen.
