Described is a suction diffusing shell, which can be attached to a centrifugal separator or removably assembled thereon. Said shell being useful for diffusing the suction or entrance of water in a pump so as to reduce the water supply in a critical area within a well. The diffusing shell is particularly manufactured for using the same in thin centrifugal separators in small wells, although it also can be adapted for using in large centrifugal separators. Moreover, said shell is characterized in that it comprises one or more sections of perforated or smooth pipes, depending on the application zone that may be covered or opened at the lower portion thereof. The invention can be attached to the centrifugal separator or independently assembled thereon and supported by the pump body.
