Apparatus for determining at least one component in a sample. The determination involves qualitative and quantitative establishment of presence. The equipment (1) comprises an input (14) for introduction of a gas-form sample with one or more components to be determined. Devices (11) are provided for effecting a first separation, whereby one or more separate collections (15,15''') are formed. These particles are then separately ionized by second devices (12,12'''), whereby one or more collections of charged particles (16,16''') are formed. Using third devices (13,13''') a mass spectrometric separation is executed on the collections of charged particles. Detection then takes place using detectors (17,17''') using a TIME OF FLIGHT (TOF) measurement principle, whereby then in total a two-dimensional (distance x time) separation occurs.
