Peanut material, additives and a heated aqueous phase are mixed together and then the sauce is heated and added to packaging. A method for preparing and packaging a peanut sauce, especially a satay sauce, comprises the following steps: (1) preparing a sauce by mixing a peanut material, additives and a heated aqueous phase; (2) heating the sauce; and (3) adding the sauce to a sealable packaging. Independent claims also included for the following: (a) peanut sauce prepared by this method; and (b) packaging containing the sauce.
