The machine includes a preferably concave snow plough blade, a brush with a rotary head for contact with the road surface and a frame on which the blade and brush are mounted. The frame is connected to a movable arm on the vehicle. The brush head is mounted on the free end of an arm connected to the frame and this arm extends forwards in a substantially horizontal direction from a point behind the blade to a point further forwards in front of the blade so that snow and ice removed by the brush is collected by the plough.
