A system for tracking silvicultural information during the product cycle of a tree, the system includes:- (a) at least one electronically programmable tag that stores a first portion of silviculture information, such as the identity and location of a tree, this tag is to be attached or located proximate to the tree. (b) a database containing a second portion of the silviculture information, such as cultivation and harvesting information, this second portion of information being associated with the first portion of information, and (c) computer means of tracking the first and second portions of silviculture information, this includes accessing the first portion of information during the growth, harvesting and processing stages of the tree.
