40 kDa protein expressed on fetal thymocytes but not adult thymocytes, antibodies and uses thereof

A substantially pure protein is characterized by: (i) a molecular weight of 40 kDa (ii) expression on the surface of fetal thymocytes (iii) no expression on the surface of adult thymocytes (iv) the ability to block cell proliferation upon binding by an antibody; and (v) the ability to induce homotypic aggregation upon binding by the antibody, wherein the antibody binds to fetal thymocytes, inhibits proliferation of, and induces apoptosis in a cell upon binding to the cell and does not bind adult thymocytes, and/or adult bone marrow adult B and/or T cells. Preferably the protein binds to a monoclonal antibody produced by hybridoma cell lines ATCC No. PTA-377, PTA-404, or PTA-405. (62) Divided out of 516771
