The proposed method of detecting the genetic instability of lymphocytes in the blood of oncological patents during radiotherapy implies carrying out, before and after the radiotherapy, the cytogenetic analysis for determining the total content of cells with chromosomal aberrations (CCS) and the total content of cells with chromatid aberrations (CCT) using the standard lymphocyte culture. The method is distinctive by determining the total content of cells both with chromosomal and chromatid aberrations (CCS+CT), estimating the unpredicted content of cells both with chromosomal and chromatid aberrations (Extra CCS+CT), determining the difference between the values of the Extra CCS+CT parameter before and after the radiotherapy (?Extra CCS+CT), and if this difference is more than zero, carrying out the analysis of the extended lymphocyte culture and determining the said parameters, comparing the values of the ?Extra CCS+CT indicators that are obtained for the extended lymphocyte culture and the standard lymphocyte culture, and determining the indicator that characterizes the steadiness of the induced instability of the genome (Extra CCS+CT Trans). If the value of this indicator is equal to or more than 1, the conclusion is made about the inheritance of the genome instability by the cells descending from the irradiated cells, with retaining and amplifying the instability in multiple cell generations.
