METHOD FOR ASSESSING STAGE OF DIABETIC CARDIOVASCULAR AUTONOMIC NEUROPATHY

The method for assessing the stage of the diabetic cardiovascular autonomic neuropathy comprises the orthostatic test, the assessment of the variability of heart rhythm, namely coefficient of variation (CV), the total spectral power (TP), and sympathovagal index (LF/HF). The decrease in CV and TP values below the normal ones suggests stage I of autonomic neuropathy, the decrease in CV, TP and LF/HF suggests stage II of autonomic neuropathy. Finally, the decrease in above-mentioned values with accompanying pathological reaction of arterial blood change in the course of the orthostatic test is indicative of stage III of autonomic neuropathy.
