The proposed method of geochemical exploration of hydrocarbon deposits implies sampling soil at the upper humus lithologically homogeneous eluvial level, at monitoring points that are located at the similar elements of the micro-, meso-, and macrorelief. The method consists in taking point samples of soil at the AI level, at a depth of 0.05 à 0.15 m from the earth surface, forming combined samples from the point samples, isolating granulometric fractions with the granule dimensions of less than 0,1 mm from the said combined samples, preparing water-soil suspensions from the said fractions with the ratio of 1:5 between the content of water and that of soil in the suspension, at the suspension temperature of 85 à 95 C, stabilizing the chemical composition of the suspensions by adding standard buffer solution with pH = 6.86 0.08 and water solution of antioxidant containing ascorbic acid with a concentration of 0.1 + 0.01 mol/l and potassium nitrate with a concentration of 0.1 + 0.01 mol/l, isolating, from the suspensions, and analyzing extracts for determining the concentration of iodide ions that indicates the presence of hydrocarbons, additionally extracting and analyzing the samples for determining the concentration of iodide ions that indicates the content of mineral and organic substances in the soil at the AI level, mapping the territorial distribution of iodide ions by using the analysis data, and localizing the area for exploring hydrocarbons by the location of the areas with low concentration of iodide ions.
