The coin deflection system comprises a pneumatic device for striking a coin so that it is knocked off a sorting path as it travels along the latter. The striking force is a rotary or linear one. The sorting device comprises a sorting path and two coin transport devices with opposing surfaces which move at substantially the same speed so that the coin is gripped between these two surfaces and moved along the sorting path.
