Formula (I) compounds are described, (I), where the groups are as defined in the text, their use as medications, in particular as serum glucose and serum lipid lowering agents. Said medicines are useful for the treatment of diabetes, particularly type 2 diabetes and its complications, syndrome X, the various forms of insulin resistance, and hyperlipidaemias, and present reduced side effects, particularly reduced or no hepatotoxicity.
