The surgical instrument is for oral surgery and has a shaft and a handle along with a cross-sectionally circular work point. The surgical instrument has a preformed (1,21) conical work point (5,25) and usually an implant bed former (2,22) with contours on the outer surfaces of the implants working point (6,26). The diameter of the working point of the preformer is smaller than the larger diameter of the implant bed former. The working point of the implant bed former, may be shown such that the orifice in the jaw (13) can be for a diameter of implant where the free end has a contoured outer surface. The forward end of the work piece may have a spherically concave surface.
