A method for studying the properties of a fluid comprising the steps of: a) providing a rheometer having a pump (2) and a die (3) arranged so that the pump can pump the fluid through the die. b) supplying the fluid to the rheometer, c) with the pump at a speed, obtain values indicative of the shear stress in the fluid inside the matrix to obtain a set of data, characterized in that the method also comprises the step of d) directly comparing the data set with previously obtained data corresponding to a fluid with known rheological properties.
