Oral controlled-release formulation that provides a rapid onset of therapeutic effect and a rapid decrease in plasma concentration after a prolonged period of therapeutic effect, comprising: a plurality of substrates comprising a part of an effective dose of a deficit drug of attention and control of hyperactivity in the form of immediate release, a hydrophobic material selected from the group comprising an alkyl cellulose, an acrylic polymer and a mixture thereof, applied as a coating on the surface of said substrates in an amount sufficient to retarding the release of said drug, an enteric coating applied on said hydrophobic coating in an amount sufficient to substantially retard the release of said drug from said substrate until after said formulation passes through the stomach, further comprising the formulation n a remaining portion of said drug in immediate release form.
