An electromagnetic compression spring brake comprising a counterplate (1) that includes a solenoid (3) and helical springs (5) distributed equally in the counterplate (1), a friction plate (4) on a hub of a shaft to be braked, an axially interposed armature plate (2), axially displaceable but not rotatable, axially movable by means of the coil springs (5) or the solenoid (3) to contact the friction plate (4) or the face of the counterplate (1) and which includes a series of damping members (7, 8) distributed, equidistant around the circumference and characterized by a specific elastic relationship, between the opposite faces of the counterplate (1) and the plate (2) of armature to reduce the noise of coupling of the armature plate when it impacts with the face of the counterplate (1), characterized by an additional series of damping members (9 to 12) distributed in an equidistant manner around decircumference and with a significantly lower elastic ratio for continuous contact with the opposite side of the counter plate (1) also during the release of the armature plate (2) to reduce the disengagement noise of the armature plate (2) during the braking
