An electroporation device comprises a signal generating means (3) connectable at the output to electrodes (5) attachable to a substrate (35) comprising cells; said electrodes (5) producing, in said substrate (35) an electric field which induces permeabilization of the membranes of said cells to facilitate introduction of substances (37) into cells; the device further comprising regulating means (7, 10, 3) for controlling characteristic quantities of the (I2) signal applied to the electrodes based on the impedance (Z (z)) measured in the substrate (35); said impedance (Z (omega)) is a function of the degree of permeabilization obtained by the membrane of said cells, wherein said means for generating signals comprises means for generating pulses (3), said means generating signals (3) characterized by comprising means for generating: - first various impulses (I1) applied to the electrodes (5); each first pulse having a constant amplitude and preferably being rectangular; - at least one second pulse (I2; Iu2) applied to the electrodes (5); said second pulse (I2; Iu2) having an amplitude which is a function of the impedance (Z (omega)) measured in the substrate (35); and - at least one third pulse (I3) applied to the electrodes (5); said third pulse (I3) having a much smaller amplitude than the first pulses (I1) and the second pulse (I2; Iu2).
