Footrest for use in vehicle seats, intended to be fastened to the bottom of the rear side of a seat in a vehicle or a chair, so that the user in the seat immediately behind may support his feet on pedals established for this purpose on the footrest itself; comprises a support (1) which is secured to the seat, which is attached a swing arm (5), while in the open arm end, are the pedals (8) to support the user's feet, and arm (5) above it is mounted to pivot about a transverse axis, and characterized in that said arm (5) is connected to a pin (7), which is also mounted on the same support (1) by means of a shaft (6) rotating; while this pin (7) has a bar (15) transverse held in place by a spring (19) which can be placed on the respective teeth or hooks (13) provided for this purpose on the arm (5), inorder keep the arm in the horizontal or rest position; while pushing the arm (5) aforementioned down overcomes the action of spring (19) and allows the user to release the bar (15) of the hooks or teeth (13) and pivoting the arm (5) aforementioned down, where it is held in place by means of a hook (22) in the transverse pin (7) in the respective bolts (11) and (12) correspond to the two angular positions which can hold the arm (5).
