A blister package (10) is disclosed that comprises a blister layer having anarticle receiving blister (38) formed therein for holdingmedicaments, and a base layer (32). The blister layer has one or more tearingblisters (34) joined to the base layer except in the areas ofthe article receiving blister and the tearing blisters. The portions of thebase layer (32) and the blister layer (30) that are joined togethercannot be readily torn from the outer edges of the blister package, but theportion of the blister layer that forms the tearing blister (34) isthin enough that the tearing blister and the portion of the base layer underthe tearing blister can be readily torn from the outer edge of theblister package.
