An improved method is presented for collecting or assembling scalar potentia l data measurements to be prepared for gridding and interpolation and subsequent analysis with frequency domain transform filters and established geophysical procedures. Said measurements are made over a reference region containing a region of primary interest wherein said reference region extends in all cardinal directions from the center of said primary region of interest and with an extent chosen to be plural multiples of the greatest depth to be considered in analyzing the contributions to said scalar potential measurements within said primary region of interest. A combined or separate improved method is presented for delineating or defining increased spatial and physic al information from any prepared gridded and interpolated scalar potential surface representations o r residual scalar potential surface representations through the construction of a Spatially Correlated Potential Spectrum according to simple and prescribed rules.
