The invention provides a DNA sequence comprising a promoter sequence capableof regulating expression of a gene which encodes a limit dextrinase inhibitorprotein (LDI), a method of regulating the expression of a gene, a method ofmodifying the metabolism within the cells of a transgenic plant, provides amethod of producing a gene product within the cells of a transgenic plant, anoligonucleotide probe which selectively hybridizes to a DNA sequence, atransgenic plant and a recombinant DNS comprising vector DNA and a DNAsequence as described in any one of (a) to (f) above.
