The invention relates to a thermoacoustic device (20), comprising a cavity, containing a fluid amongst other things, at least one pair of transducers (24a, 24c) for the generation of an acoustic pressure in the fluid and a particular velocity field in the fluid, the transducers of a pair (24a, 24c) being placed facing each other on the sides (21a, 21c) of the cavity and supplied with electrical signals. The device is characterised in also comprising means for adaptation of the electrical signals for the control of the fields in the cavity.
