A device for analyzing a polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon having a nitro group which comprises a section for extracting organic soluble components with a solvent from diesel particulates contained in an exhaust gas from a diesel engine, a section for concentrating and drying the extract obtained in the extraction section, a section for dissolving the dried substance with methanol, and a section for separating and extracting the dissolved liquid with a high performance liquid chromatograph, and thereafter, a section for determining a polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon having a nitro group by a fluorescence detector, wherein the section comprising the high performance liquid chromatograph has a sub-section for separation with a silica-gel/C8 column, a sub-section for the reduction with an alumina/Pt-Rh reduction column and a sub-section for the separation with an ODS column.
