The machining method uses at least one milling tool (2) fitted to a rotating spindle (1) and provided with shaped cutters (3) matched to the profile of the edge strip (5), with fine machining of the latter after the milling process by using one of the shaped cutters as a triming blade, brought into alignment with the edge strip, the milling tool being locked against rotation. An independent claim for a machining device for an edge strip applied to a wood panel is also included.
