A disc recorder/reproducer comprising a pickup (2) for projecting a laser beam to the signal surface of a disc (7) on a chassis (1), and a pair of guide shafts (4, 40) for guiding movement of the pickup (2). One guide shaft (4) is fitted to the pickup (2) with less looseness than less the other guide shaft (40). The guide shaft (4) fitted to the pickup (2) with less looseness is supported, at the opposite ends thereof, by supporting members (5, 50) provided on the chassis (1), and a cut (52) capable of passing the guide shaft (4) is formed in the side part of at least one supporting member (50). A retaining member (9) having an abutting piece (90) for preventing coming-off of the guide shaft (4) from the cut (52) is provided in the vicinity of the supporting member (50) having the cut (52) on the chassis (1).
