A fast-operating textile assembly has a heald frame formed of rectangular hollow spars. The spar has sheet metal sidewalls of uniform thickness but which thicken in the transition zone close to the spar caps. The heald spar side-faces have no breaks or perforations and is fabricated from a single piece of extruded aluminum. Also claimed is a commensurate machine milling manufacturing process that removes metal from the thin-walled sections.
