An X-ray diffraction meter is coupled to a sample chamber by a vertically-adjustable link fitting. The link fitting has a rigid adapter attached to the sample chamber by a sliding holder. The sample holder is completely surrounded by the sample chamber. The sample chamber has a plastic foil-covered window which allows the passage of X-rays. The foil is Kapton foil. The sample chamber shields the sample from the surrounding ambient air conditions. The barrier between the sample chamber and diffraction meter is gas and pressure-sealed. The sample chamber has a gas connector fitting. The adaptor has a tongue and groove joint or a dovetail joint. Vertical adjustment is by a spindle drive. Access to the sample chamber is by a two-layered cover hatch.
