Wireless network and method for data encryption/decryption in a wireless network

Implementing a portion of a data stream to encrypt [20] data packets [16] being transmitted in a wireless network [32]. More specifically, data segments from one or more data packets [ 16] may be used to dynamically change the master key [34] used to encrypt [20] the data packets [32]. Each of the transmitting and receiving nodes [12, 14] includes a constellation of master keys [34] which may be implemented to encrypt [20] a data packet [16]. Data segments selected from one or more data packets [16] which are transmitted from the transmitting node [12] to the receiving node [14] may be used to define the selection of one of the master keys [34] used to encrypt [20] a subsequent data packet [16]. Because the master key [34] may be selected as a function of the data stream, the master key [34] used to encrypt [20] a particular packet [16] may be changed dynamically on apacket-by-packet basis.
