The circuit breaker has axially aligned main current contacts and coaxial arc extinction auxiliary contacts , with the latter driven in the opposite direction to the main current contacts. An isolating nozzle (8) is attached to the driven main current contacts and one of the auxiliary contacts, with an attached toothed rack (27) cooperating with a stationary cogwheel (25), for a single-stage Maltese cross switching mechanism (26,22,23,24,28), driving the second auxiliary contact (7).
