A camera assembly (10) generally includes a camera housing (12) and a lens barrel (14). The camera housing (12) has a receptacle portion (18) that has a bore with an inside diameter (20). The lens barrel (14) has a mating shaft portion (32) with an outside diameter (34) that is smaller than the inside diameter (20) of the bore of the receptacle portion (18). The bushings (36a,36b) are positioned around the mating shaft portion (32) of the lens barrel (14) to create an interference fit between the lens barrel (14) in the bore of the receptacle portion (18) to axially align the lens barrel (14) with the receptacle portion (18).
