The invention relates to a method for starting a pump turbine of a pump storage power station in the rotational direction of the turbine. The turbine is drivingly connected to an electric machine which can be coupled to an electric network. The invention is characterised in that the turbine is accelerated by means of at least one electric starting converter in the rotational direction of the turbine.
