CONNECTING ELEMENT FOR A COUPLING ELEMENT OF A PNEUMATIC COUPLING FOR USE IN TRAIN COUPLINGS, ESPECIALLY AUTOMATIC TRAIN COUPLINGS

The invention relates to a connecting element (1; 1.2; 15.3a; 15.3b) for a coupling element of a pneumatic coupling for use in train couplings. Said connecting element comprises an air conduit and gripper elements concentrically arranged relative thereto. The connecting element (1; 1.2; 15.3a; 15.3b) comprises a head element (5; 5.3a), an air guiding tube (6; 6.3a; 6.3b) linked with said head element (5; 5.3a) and at least partially inserted into the air conduit, and a stop face (14), facing away from the head element (5; 56.3a), which is disposed on the air guiding tube (6; 6.3a; 6.3b) and supports a sealing device (8). The connecting element is further provided with means for fastening and coupling to the pneumatic coupling element in an air-tight manner. Said means (2) comprise at least one locking element that is supported on the surfaces of the gripper elements of the pneumatic coupling element and that locks the connecting element (1; 1.2; 15.3a; 15.3b) vis-à-vis the gripper elements under pressure. Depending on the configuration of the head element, the connecting element (1; 1.2; 15.3a; 15.3b) can be used as an adapter or as a stop plug.
