The invention relates to a method, tool and device for producing threaded holes, particularly in workpieces of low material strength. The workpiece is heated in a substantially extensive manner with the aid of a friction and expansion section of the tool by means of frictional contact and the heated material is displaced by the tool in a radial and axial direction. A thread is created in an eye arising from the displacement of said material, using a thread configuration section. The device is configured in such a way as to receive and drive the tool and to provide control according to said method.
