The aim of the invention is so transmit data and power through a wall (11) by means of structure-borne noise. Said aim is achieved by injecting noise on the front face (11a) of the wall (11) with the aid of a first sound transducer (12) and extracting the same on the rear face (11b) of the wall (11) with the aid of a second sound transducer (13). At least some of the extracted noise is converted into electrical power by means of a power generating device (15), said electrical power being used for operating a data transmission unit (16) located behind the wall (11). A modulator (18, 22) modulates carrier waves with data (21) that is to be transmitted, said carrier waves being injected into the wall (11) as sound waves and being transmitted through the wall. A demodulator (18, 22) is used for demodulating the transmitted carrier waves that are extracted from the wall (11).
