GEAR WHEEL DRIVE UNIT WITH AUTOMATIC COMPENSATION OF TOOTH FLANK BACKLASH

Disclosed is a gear wheel drive unit comprising a gear wheel that is provided with two disks (1, 2) which are braced against each other relative to the axis of rotation thereof, and at least one meshing mating gear wheel which automatically compensates the backlash that occurs during meshing. The gear wheel disks (1, 2) are mutually supported by at least one hydraulic piston-cylinder unit (5) which is provided with a check valve (7). The piston (6) of said piston-cylinder unit (5) cooperates with a first gear wheel disk (1) such that the trailing tooth flank of the second gear wheel disk (2) in the direction of rotation rests against the mating gear wheel when said piston (6) is actuated, the check valve (7) preventing the piston (6) from moving in a reverse direction due to moments acting counter to the direction of rotation. The at least one hydraulic piston-cylinder unit (5) is integral with the first gear wheel disk (1).
