PURPOSE: A syndiotactic polystyrene nanocomposite is provided, which has silicate materials of nano sizes uniformly dispersed in styrene polymer matrix by peeling and intercalation during polymerization and a method for producing the nanocomposite by a polymerization reaction using a nano clay supported catalyst. CONSTITUTION: The syndiotactic polystyrene nanocomposite is obtainable by polymerizing a styrene monomer in a catalytic system composed of an IVB group transition metal catalyst supported to phyllosilicate and alkyl aluminoxane. The catalytic system composed of an IVB group transition metal catalyst supported to phyllosilicate comprises (a) a polymer, (b) a phyllosilicate, and (c) an IVB group transition metal compound. The polymer(a) is used as an insulating material or a media between the IVB group transition metal compound(c) and the phyllosilicate(b).
