Use of bisphosphonic acid derivatives for the preparation of a medicament for the treatment of calcium pyrophosphate deposition disease (CPDD) primarily pseudogout and chondrocalcinosis, in a mammal. More specifically, the present invention relates to the use of bisphosphonic acid derivatives, said derivatives being especially adapted to be administered to subjects suffering from CPDD. The invention also relates to the use of bisphosphonic acid derivatives for the prevention or treatment of caries, such as secondary caries.
