Prophylaxis/therapy of diabetes mellitus resulting from insufficient glucuronidation by specific enzyme, involves molecular genetic testing of UDP glucuronosyl transferase 1 (UGT1) isoenzymes; and on establishing reduction of activity of isoenzymes, administering equimolar amounts of L-methionine, L-lysine and L-arginine, together with N-acetylcysteine (supplemented by glutathione, L-cystine and taurine). Prophylaxis and therapy of diabetes mellitus resulting from insufficient glucuronidation by uridine diphosphate (UDP) glucuronosyl transferase 1 (designated UDP-glucuronosyl transferase 1-deficiency diabetes mellitus type II or UGT-diabetes), carried out as early as possible (at the latest when diabetes mellitus type II is diagnosed), involves: (a) molecular genetic testing of UDP glucuronosyl transferase 1 (UGT1) isoenzymes (nine of which are known); and (b) on the basis of the established reduction of activity of UGT1 isoenzymes, simultaneously administering approximately equimolar amounts of the three aminoacids L-methionine, L-lysine and L-arginine, together with N-acetylcysteine and supplemented by (as required) glutathione, L-cystine and taurine. ACTIVITY : Antidiabetic; Neuroprotective; Vasotropic; Antilipemic; Endocrine-Gen; Muscular-Gen.. MECHANISM OF ACTION : Uridine diphosphate glucuronosyl transferase 1 isoenzyme activity stimulant.
