The reduction of flow in a plaster based element comprises the introduction into the plaster based composition, before setting and hardening, of tartaric acid or salts of tartaric acid, in a quantity greater than 0.001 % by wt with respect to the weight of calcium sulfate in the plaster based composition. Independent claims are also included for: (a) a plaster based composition with the addition of tartaric acid or salts of tartaric acid and boric acid or salts of boric acid; (b) a plaster based element with reduced flow made from this composition; (c) utilization of tartaric acid or tartaric acid salts to reduce flow in a plaster based element; (d) a method for the fabrication of a plaster based element with reduced flow.
