The invention relates to a method for the removal of heavy metal ions from highly-concentrated solutions, containing heavy metal ions, with a content of sulphate, for example, effluents from galvanisation, comprising a bioreactor with sulphate-reducing bacteria. The sulphides, generated in the bioreactor from the solution containing sulphates, are fed to a mixing tank, the solution of heavy metal ions, introduced to the mixing tank, being highly-concentrated, whereupon the metal sulphides are precipitated from the mixture and the bioreactor is supplied with a solution containing heavy metal and sulphate with lower concentration than the mixing tank.
