PURPOSE: An optical plug for attachment to terminal ends of optical fibers and an optical connector including an optical plug and a receptacle mated and connected to each other are provided to protect the terminal ends of the optical fibers by positioning ferrules within a ferrule cover. CONSTITUTION: A ferrule cover(70) is mounted in a recess for sliding movement along outer periphery of ferrules(22). A spring(80) is used for urging the ferrule cover to move in the forward direction from a bottom wall of the recess. A stopper(76) is formed on an outer circumference of the ferrule cover in order to prevent the movement of the ferrule cover to the bottom wall of the recess. A hinge(28) is formed on the bottom wall of the recess and has a convex part projected from an outer surface of the bottom wall.
